Norwood Park Country House is a stunning and elegant country estate in the heart of the Nottinghamshire countryside. We have had plenty of experience with Norwood Park over the years and are one of their recommended suppliers. With that experience, we have collated all the information you need to know so you don’t have to.
Where is Norwood Park?
Norwood Park is located above the beautiful historic town of Southwell, Nottinghamshire. It is 137 miles from London but easily accessible from trains to Newark Northgate station. Norwood hall is 10 miles away from Newark and 21 miles away from Nottingham. You can access Norwood through the Main Gate entrance using this address: Norwood Park, Halam Road, Southwell, Nottinghamshire, NG25 0PB.
How to find Norwood Park
Finding Norwood Park From Nottingham (Nottingham Road)
If you are coming from Nottingham to Southwell you will likely find yourself driving on Nottingham Road. If you are on Nottingham Road you will have come through the village of Thurgaton. Not long after you will have passed the Nottingham Trent University campus of Brackenhurst on your right. Once you have passed Brackenhurst carry on until you find yourself in Southwell.
Follow Nottingham Road past The Minster School and Southwell Leisure Centre until you reach a T-junction onto the B6386 (Westgate). Turn left here and carry on this road for half a mile. After you have passed The Old Vicarage Boutique Wedding Venue you will find a right turning onto Allenby Road (opposite a turning left to Westhorpe).
Drive on down Allenby Road until you reach another T-junction then turn right. On your left, you will soon see a small house and gate with signs to Norwood Park, turn down here. Carry on along the long country road, passing through the golf course and Norwood’s extensive gardens until you find yourself at the back of the main house.
Finding Norwood Park From Nottingham (Oxton Road)
If you are trying to find Norwood Park and have come through the village of Oxton follow these simple instructions. Carry on down Oxton Road (B6386) until you reach Southwell, soon you will find Allenby road on your left. Drive down Allenby Road until you reach a T- junction then turn right. On your left, you will soon see a small house and gate with signs to Norwood Park, turn down here. Carry on along the long country road, passing through the golf course and Norwood’s extensive gardens until you find yourself at the back of the main house.
Finding Norwood Park from Newark
If you are trying to find Norwood Park and have come from Newark you will have come through Upton and will now be on Upton Road and heading into Southwell. Once in Southwell you will find a BP garage on your left. Pass by this and continue on the road as it turns right, around The Old Coach House and onto Church Street.
Once on Church Street carry on past all the tempting pubs on your right and by the magnificent Minster Cathedral on your left. Eventually, you will find yourself facing the Saracen’s Head Inn at a small roundabout, turn right here. Follow the road as it veers left through Southwell’s one-way system on Queen Street.
Once at the top of Queen Street junction go straight on (be mindful that this is a junction for you and not for cars on your right). Carry on down Halam road for about half a mile. Eventually, just as it looks like you are coming out of Southwell, you will find a small house and gate with signs to Norwood Park on your right, turn down here. Carry on along the long country road, passing through the golf course and Norwood’s extensive gardens until you find yourself at the back of the main house.
How many guests are allowed at Norwood Park?
Norwood Park is very flexible and accommodating when it comes to the number of guests at weddings. Their minimum number is 50, and you can have up to 150 guests seated in the Gallery and 75 in the Drawing Room for your ceremony. Alternatively, you can take the wedding outside to the Bandstand and seat 150 people.
What is the history of Norwood Hall?
This stunning country house dates back to the 14th Century and was rebuilt in the 1760s by the Sutton family. Norwood is the perfect example of Georgian architecture in the style of John Carr of York. What is now the Gallery was once the Coach House and Stables, and has now been transformed into the grand reception rooms it is today. The Sutton family also landscaped the surrounding gardens, which date back to medieval times. You can find more information about the history of Norwood Park on their about page.
Where will my guests stay at Norwood Park?
Norwood Park offers overnight accommodation of 21 bedrooms for guests wishing to stay the night. As part of the wedding booking there are 4 suites and 4 bedrooms in the main house. Extra rooms are available to book separately in the east and west wings if you need extra accommodation.
Will we have Norwood Hall to ourselves?
Norwood Park offers the exclusivity of the venue to you and your guests from 12 noon until midnight. So you don’t need to worry about anything else but yourselves.
What happens after midnight?
Whilst the Gallery closes at midnight, the main house can remain open for you and your overnight guests to party even further into the night. What is the food like?
Norwood prides themselves on their passion for food and drink. Their vast menu has a huge variety of dishes to choose from to suit your individual tastes. Choose a selection of courses from their 6 menus or create your very own bespoke menu for your event. All the ingredients are sourced locally around Nottinghamshire. And they are prepared to the best standard, including taste and presentation.
What are the bedrooms like?
All the bedrooms at Norwood Hall have their own unique and elegant style. The rooms have all been recently renovated while keeping with the original floor plans of the house. The rooms designed for practicality and comfort. They also go the extra mile with beautiful original wallpapers and paintings, as well as luxury linens.
Where can I have my ceremony?
Norwood has a variety of rooms for you to have your ceremony in. If you are looking for a traditional wedding ceremony however there is the Southwell Minster. The Southwell Minster is a magnificent 12th-century cathedral that is only one mile away from Norwood House.
The Drawing Room – A small room that can seat up to 75 guests, this room doesn’t disappoint with its elegant simplicity. Painted in cream with golden curtains and picture frames, the room is a blank canvas to suit any wedding style. The room also boasts incredible views of the gardens, making for an excellent backdrop to your ceremony.
The Gallery – This beautiful bright white room can seat up to 120 people for your wedding ceremony. With its huge windows and mirrors, the enormous chandeliers that line the ceiling are hardly needed in this room. Originally a stable and coach house this building has now been transformed into an English Palladian style ceremony and reception room. The Gallery at Norwood Park is set next to a permanent marquee which includes a bar, dancefloor and stage, which are all connected to the private courtyard.
The Bandstand – If you’re feeling like an outdoor ceremony, look no further than Norwood’s bandstand area. Perfect for a summer’s day, this outside area is a gorgeous place to tie the knot. The bandstand was designed specifically for wedding ceremonies and is a graceful pearl-white colour. Feel free to dress it up with flowers for up to 150 guests to enjoy.

Where can I have my wedding breakfast?
Whether you want your reception to be big or small, at Norwood they’ve got you covered.
The Gallery – For larger affairs of up to 150 guests, choose the gallery for a reception in English Palladian style. The converted Stables and Coach House are now this beautiful reception room with white walls, ornate mirrors and gilded chandeliers. The Gallery also leads directly to the fixed Marquee, where you can party the night away after finishing your wedding breakfast.
The Dining Room – With seating for up to 40 guests, the Dining Room is perfect for smaller wedding receptions. This historic room is filled with oiling paintings dating back more than 350 years, along with its historic mirrors and fireplace. The team of staff at Norwood are happy to transform the room into many different styles to suit your wedding theme, from vintage to roaring ’20s and much more!
