As an experienced couple of wedding photographers and videographers, we get to film weddings at some amazing wedding venues. For this blog post we wanted to share some insider insights into one of our favourite local venues, for any couple planning their wedding at Mythe Barn.

Mythe Barn is a stylish and modern country barn venue set in the Leicestershire countryside. Its Nordic oak frame, rural views and spacious, warm interior are likely to impress any who visit. Along with its stylish aesthetics, Mythe Barn boasts 8 double rooms, exquisite catering and complete exclusivity for any bride and groom and their party. From a wedding photographer’s perspective, there are loads of great backdrops to feature in your wedding pictures, both inside and on the grounds of the wedding venue.

Why Choose Mythe Barn?
We asked Charlotte and Ed, whose wedding at Mythe Barn we photographed and filmed back in December 2019, why they chose Mythe Barn as their wedding venue.
“It had always been a venue that I followed on social media so as soon as Ed proposed, I booked us in to go and have a look around. Ed knew as soon as we got there that it was going to be our venue. I just fell in love instantly. We loved the long driveway leading up to the venue, and just the warm rustic feel inside. We fell in love with the ceremony room and just knew we had to have the whole day there!” – Charlotte
Where is Mythe Barn?
Mythe Barn wedding venue is situated in Sheepy Magna, Leicestershire. It is around 30 minutes from Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham and Coventry. It is only a few minutes away from the M42, M69, M1 and A5. Atherstone and Nuneaton train stations are also only a few minutes away. Mythe Barn’s website offers some suggestions for local taxi services and more information on local train stations.

How many guests can I invite?
Mythe Barn can hold up to 150 wedding guests in the day as it has two rooms. The Oak Barn is perfect for wedding ceremonies, it has large iconic wooden beams at the head of the barn. These hold up the enormous glass windows which flood the room with natural light. Any bride and groom looking for the perfect barn wedding, should put Mythe Barn at the top of their list.
The Grain Store, which is just across from the entrance hall and bar is the big brother to the Oak Barn. The Grain Store is larger and is perfect for wedding receptions. It offers plenty of space for seating during dinner and for dancing in the evening!
Top Tip:
There’s a ledge called the minstrel’s gallery inside the Oak Barn that we used for group photos. Using this spot means everyone’s face will be visible, and you can see the features of the barn venue in your photographs too.

How many guests can stay at Mythe Barn?
Mythe Barn boasts eight gorgeous en-suite double rooms, each of which includes breakfast in the morning. The main honeymoon suite is located in the main building. It includes full-height windows which look out onto the courtyard and farm, a private balcony and a large en-suite bathroom. With its iconic wooden beams, large windows and size (this room is large enough for an entire bridal party and their photographers!), it is the perfect bedroom for bridal prep from a photographers point of view! This room is also reserved for the married couple after their wedding day.
The other seven bedrooms are located around the courtyard, which the main bedroom looks onto. All of these are en-suit rooms and include breakfast in the morning.

Where do I get ready in the morning?
Next to the honeymoon suite is the bridal suite. This room is designed exclusively for the bridal party. It includes one room with a wall of mirrors and chairs and another room with sofas and a coffee table to relax in. This room also has a balcony that overlooks the Oak Barn. So you can have a sneaky peek to check if the groom has arrived on time! This is also a perfect place for your wedding photographer or wedding videographer to be during the wedding ceremony or for group photographs.
Once your makeup and hair are ready you can easily cross the hallway and head into the beautiful honeymoon suite to do your finishing touches! This stunning room is perfect for any wedding photographer. It is bright and has a high wooden beam ceiling that really gives it some character.
Below the bridal suite is a closed-off seating area and kitchenette, just right for the groomsmen to get ready in. If any of you or your party have stayed over the night before, they can always get ready in one of the courtyard rooms too.
As the venue offers exclusivity to its wedding couples however, you may find that these rooms will not be available until 10 am. This is why the bridal suite is so good. As the bridal party can arrive nice and early to begin getting ready in there without disturbing any sleepy guests!

Will we get venue exclusivity?
Yes! Mythe Barn offer venue exclusivity, checkout time is 10 am. In the morning guests are welcomed into The Stable for their buffet breakfast.

Is there accommodation nearby?
Yes! There are plenty of locations within a 15-minute radius near Atherstone. Mythe Barn offers a selection of local accommodation on their guest information page.

What is the food like?
From personal experience, we can assure you that the food at Mythe Barn is delicious. Mythe Barn has a try before you decide scheme, whereby once you have booked the venue you will be invited to one of their tasting events. Here you will be treated to an array of starters, mains and desserts from the UK and European influences. In the evening, you can choose to feed your guests with many different options. But our favourite is their wood-fired pizzas!

Mythe Barn’s Ceremony Room
The ceremony room at Mythe Barn is the beautiful Oak Barn. The enormous windows at the top of the barn allow natural light to flood the wedding ceremony. From a wedding photographer’s perspective, this means the bride and groom are beautifully lit in an extremely flattering light.
At the back of the barn there is a oak minstrel gallery. This balcony is perfect for musicians or videographers to use during the ceremony. Or, as we mentioned earlier, it’s great to check if the groomsmen have arrived on time without being seen! You can find more about Mythe Barn’s Oak Barn on their website.

Mythe Barn’s Reception Room
After your ceremony, you will be invited into either The Cart Barn or The Courtyard. This will likely be decided by the weather! The Cart Barn is sat between the Oak Barn and The Grain Store (where you will have your wedding breakfast). This room connects all the other rooms together and allows for easy access to the outside via the entrance or The Courtyard. The spacious Cart Barn also has a bar and a seating area making it a great alternative to being outside during the reception.
The Courtyard then is the outside equivalent to The Cart Barn. On warm days the Courtyard offers plenty of space for your guests to sit, drink, eat and even play garden games! In the evening this area is lit up and the wood fire pizzas are cooked out here!

Wedding breakfast and evening rooms
After the canapes have been eaten and the group photos have been taken it is time to get seated in The Grain Store for the wedding breakfast. Like The Oak Barn, this room is beautifully lit with natural light through the room’s large windows. The Grain Store is Mythe Barn’s largest room and easily fits 150 seated guests. In the evening some of the tables are removed and the remaining ones are moved to one half of the room. The rest of the room is clear and ready for either a DJ or a band.
Favourite Part of Mythe Barn
We asked Charlotte and Ed what their favourite part of their wedding day was:
“Our day was just perfect from start to finish! The build up to our wedding there was so much rain and there were slight floods near to the venue. Luckily everyone got there and we were so lucky with the weather, it was 11 degrees, and stayed dry until around 8pm where we had a little shower of rain. One of our highlights was that we could all go outside for the confetti shots, something i’d just automatically thought it will be side as it will be too cold and wet to be outside but the weather was on our side. Another highlight for us and our guests was the magician we booked, we had gone to a wedding fayre and instead of being interested in the invitations, make up artists and cakes Ed was only bothered about watching this magician, i’d never been to a wedding before with a magician so at first I wasn’t that keen on the idea as I didn’t know what to expect. A few months later we went back to the wedding fayre and Ed made me watch the magician and I was sold, so we booked him there and then. We both just had the biggest smiles on our faces all day and were just in our own little bubble which shows throughout the photos & videos taken by Harry & Annie” –Charlotte

Final thoughts on Mythe Barn
Mythe Barn is a stylish and modern country barn. The spacious and bright rooms allow for plenty of easy photographic opportunities. Every room and the exterior make for great backdrops too. It has all the facilities one would require for their wedding as well as being conveniently located between the Midland’s largest cities. Each room can be adapted for any wedding and made to look as each couple desires. It’s large windows make each room bright and fresh, it is uplifting when comparing it to country houses for example. The staff here are wonderfully polite and due diligent. They will ensure your wedding runs like clockwork and everything is exactly as you expected.
